Managing Spam Emails
We all complain about spam emails. There are just too many!!! We receive hundreds of them every day. From sex to stocks - who would buy stocks from an unwanted emailed recommendation!

Although there is no iron-clad method of completely eliminating spam, there are several things you can do to reduce the number you receive. I tell my customers they must take a proactive stance against spam by following all of the steps listed below:

  1. Never give out your business email addresses. Never list these addresses on your websites. Use a form on your website. One that's secured against harvestors. We sell forms that are protected. Use this form to contact our design department to discuss adding a form to your website.
  2. When listing your email address in directories and search engines, use an email address from hotmail, yahoo or similar. When these email addresses start getting spammed. Delete them and create a new one.
  3. If you subscribe to newsletters, talk with someone on the phone about products or services, give them an email address designated for these. Make note of the email address so you can update your subscriptions.
  4. PayPal & Ebay are notorious fishing ponds for harvestors. Create a special email address for PayPal & Ebay only. Make sure you change your email address and even your password on a regular basis for these accounts.
  5. Use another special email address when shopping online. Make sure you uncheck the box to allow others to contact you; don't give them permission to sell your email address.
  6. Email addresses that have sales, info, payments, your domain name before the @ are way too common these days. Harvestors are banking on this! Delete these email addresses anc create new unique email addresses for for your business functions.

In addition to the above, make sure your email program can filter spam.

The final step is to log into your control panel to setup whitelists & block other unwanted emails.

    2. Visit our FAQ to learn how to setup anti-spam controls in your account's control panel.

I agree this is a lot of work and perhaps a lot of money to pay your IT staff or web developer to maintain your privacy. But, if you want to slow the spam down to a crawl these steps must be taken. Our web hosting plans include unlimited email accounts so, you don't have to worry about how many email addresses you create.

Remember, harvestors have all the tools to beat you at your tricks so, be diligent! Protect your email addresses with the same vengence the harvestors use to get access to your email addresses. Following the steps above will help you to cut down on the number of unwanted emails you receive each day.
